The American International Women’s Club of Düsseldorf remembers Erika with deep gratitude and affection. A longstanding and devoted member of AIWCD for many years, Erika gave generously of her time, her talents, and her remarkable ability to bring people together with grace and warmth.
Erika’s contributions to our club were both significant and memorable. Through her excellent contacts with the Japanese Nikko Hotel, she played a key role in making it possible for AIWCD to host the FAWCO Conference in Düsseldorf—an achievement that remains a highlight in our club’s history. Together with Mechthild Henkel, she also organized a truly fabulous fashion show at the Nikko Hotel on Immermannstraße, featuring our own members as models—an event that perfectly reflected Erika’s flair, creativity, and love of style.
She also chaired an elegant Christmas Ball that many still remember fondly, marked by refinement, attention to detail, and a welcoming atmosphere—qualities that were quintessentially Erika. Always friendly, always helpful, she had a gift for making others feel at ease. Impeccably dressed in the latest chic fashion, she embodied elegance without ever losing her warmth.
Erika cherished her friendships deeply. She remained a close friend of Inga Willing until the very end. Inga, along with former member Marie Plester and Gerda Bohlken, shared many years of bridge and friendship, staying in touch even after Marie moved to Brussels, often meeting at the Breidenbacher Hof—testament to bonds that time and distance could not weaken.
Those who visited Erika will remember the beauty she brought into everyday life. She once shared that she always kept a fresh bouquet of flowers on her coffee table—a simple detail that perfectly captured her appreciation for beauty, hospitality, and thoughtful living.
Erika was also devoted to her family. Her late husband, Dieter, who was with Rosenstock, shared her life and journey, and she spoke of him with pride and affection.
We honor Erika’s memory with sincere appreciation for all she gave to AIWCD and for the elegance, kindness, and friendship she brought into our lives. She will be remembered with warmth and gratitude by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
